Responsibilities and Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent Completion of college-level accounting coursework is preferred Experience with activities related to payroll Experience with activities related to grant reporting Experience with activities related to accounts receivable Experience with activities related to accounts payable Ability to maintain extremely confidential information Computer spreadsheet experience, EXCEL preferred Demonstrated oral and written communication skills Strong interest and ability to work as a member of a team Ability to work independently Demonstrated organizational skills and abilities Knowledge of office and accounting technology, including computers, email, internet, telephone, fax, copier and other systems Able to lift 40 lbs Able to sit for extended periods Typical Duties
Create/maintain and report 1099 vendors and provide them with record of payments calendar year end for tax reporting purposes for SERRC and business service clients and distribute by hand or mail Field questions regarding 1099 documents that have been submitted to the IRS for SERRC and business service clients Organize, prepare and transmit payroll for SERRC and business service clients – monthly or semimonthly as required Process monthly payroll liabilities including, but not limited to: federal taxes, PERS, TRS, ESD Verify eligibility of new employees and correct classification of PERS, TRS, temporary, part time or full time for timely processing of payroll Keep payroll liability files in proper/updated order Record and maintain fixed assets Maintain and reconcile/reimburse petty cash Order/cancel/track staff credit cards Assist with training new staff related to accounting, accounts payable and payroll processes Act as backup to Accounting Specialist I to produce accounts payable checks Post bank deposits Reconcile and balance liability accounts Reconcile monthly statements Post all contracts/invoices and payments Keep cash accounts current and advise Finance Director when transfers need to be made Assist with business service client monthly or quarterly grant reimbursements as requested Maintain grant files to ensure accuracy and completeness. Assist with annual audit as needed and directed by the Finance Director Assist Finance Director with accounting schedules required for annual indirect cost proposal Responsible for archiving and maintaining financial records Other duties as assigned Position Location and Working Hours
The SERRC office is located in Juneau, Alaska. Hybrid remote/on-site work options will be considered for the right candidate. Full-Time position, work hours are typically 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. AKST. Salary & Benefits
Starting at $30/hr DOQ.
