Overview
The Director of Life Products Financial Reporting at MassMutual leads the team responsible for the actuarial valuation and financial reporting for all of MassMutual’s life products, reporting to the Head of Life Products Valuation & Projections. This leadership role within the Valuation department drives the delivery of accurate and timely financial information and analysis that is actionable and forward-thinking. The leader is a trusted partner to internal and external stakeholders and manages a team of actuarial and quantitative professionals. The role requires valuation knowledge and expertise in both traditional and non-traditional life products including participating whole life, term life, and other life insurance products. The leader will exhibit strong leadership and communication skills in presenting to management, interacting with stakeholders, and managing the team. The leader will develop team vision and strategy, drive continuous improvement of valuation capabilities, and execute projects effectively. The leader will actively manage team performance and talent development within the Valuation department at MassMutual.

Responsibilities
Lead the team responsible for actuarial valuation and financial reporting for all life products; partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver timely, accurate financial information and insights.
Develop and communicate team vision and strategy; drive continuous improvement of valuation capabilities; manage execution of valuation projects and data initiatives.
Foster a high-performing, inclusive team culture; manage performance and talent development within the Valuation department.
Present results to management and other stakeholders; ensure effective governance, controls, and documentation for valuation processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Corporate Finance, ERM, Tax, Audit, and technology groups to support pricing, capital initiatives, and regulatory reporting.
Reporting and Analysis
Oversee monthly/quarterly analysis and reporting of US Stat and GAAP reserves and other actuarial items; ensure accurate and timely filings and inquiries.
Lead data management transformation and valuation process improvements; guide data production, financial exhibits, and industry/rating agency surveys.
Coordinate with audit stakeholders to ensure regulatory and model governance compliance.
Valuation Methodology, Data and Models Management
Interpret and implement valuation methodologies; ensure appropriate usage of data and robust model management.
Monitor evolving valuation regulations and participate in relevant industry activities.
Collaborate with Enterprise Data and Modeling teams to enhance valuation data and models.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries; Member of the American Academy of Actuaries; compliant with SOA CPD Attestation Status
5+ years’ actuarial experience in valuation and reporting, and/or in life pricing, assumptions development, risk management
3+ years’ exposure to valuation regulations and financial statements under US Statutory and GAAP reporting

Strong working knowledge of US insurance products and pricing
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across cross-functional groups

Knowledge of individual participating life products valuation techniques, regulations and methodologies, including Principles Based Reserves and GAAP LDTI
Experience with US Cash Flow Testing or similar actuarial projection exercises
