Cost Accountant
Dallas, TX — onsite 4 days/week (WFH Fridays). Compensation: $100-120K + 15% Bonus. One of Vaco's publicly-traded industrial manufacturing clients is looking to onboard a Cost Accountant to scale the team. Cost Accountants will oversee multiple cost components across several distribution centers and partner closely with the finance team on cost and inventory analytics to help understand manufacturing variances on the monthly P&L. Must be open to limited monthly travel to Houston (2-4 days), all expenses covered
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and report on cost of goods sold (COGS), manufacturing variances, and inventory valuation.
Develop and maintain cost models to support pricing decisions, margin analysis, and profitability reporting.
Monitor inventory transactions, ensuring accuracy of perpetual records, reconciliations, and adjustments.
Partner with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to analyze manufacturing costs, material usage, and production efficiency.
Prepare detailed variance analyses (purchase price, usage, labor, and overhead) and recommend corrective actions.
Assist in month-end close activities related to inventory and cost accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations.
Provide insights through dashboards, trend analysis, and financial modeling to improve cost control and inventory management.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes with cost and inventory assumptions.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies in all cost and inventory-related accounting.
Continuously evaluate and enhance processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and analytical capabilities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
3+ years of experience in cost accounting, inventory analysis, or related roles in manufacturing, distribution, or CPG.
Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting.
