Job Description The Accounting Manager will be responsible for leadership, coordination and development of certain ARM Energy Holdings affiliates to ensure compliance with GAAP and other reporting requirements. The Accounting Manager will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and will have multiple responsibilities pertaining to journal entries, financial reporting, accounts receivable and payable, and gas/power/crude settlements.
Responsibilities
Collaborate and manage the professional accounting staff responsible for full-cycle marketing accounting
Responsible for accounting operations including the adequacy of internal controls and established procedures
Manage monthly financial close activities for multiple entities, ensuring all balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled and supported with appropriate documentation
Perform monthly financial reporting and analysis including consolidations and eliminations (i.e., balance sheet, income statement, cash flows)
Review and analyze Profit and Loss statements for each entity, promptly identifying and resolving discrepancies
Retrieve payroll general ledger reports from Paycom and prepare accurate payroll journal entries in a timely manner
Organize and lead key finance meetings, including monthly accounts receivable and accounts payable aging reports and financial close reviews, to align team efforts and maintain reporting discipline
Ensure that the payment of invoices is completed within a timely manner and in accordance with payment terms
Ensure sales tax filings are submitted timely
Prepare and review intercompany reports, ensuring accurate tracking, reconciliation, and documentation of all intercompany and affiliate transactions
Monitor NetSuite functionality, ensure automated journal entries and processes run as intended; investigate and resolve any system or integration issues
Run fixed asset processes, including proposal, creation, and depreciation in accordance with company policy and accounting standards
Prepare and post amortization journal entries accurately and timely during the close cycle
Oversee month-end and year-end close processes in alignment with the corporate close calendar, ensuring timeliness and accuracy, including manual closing of books in NetSuite
Oversee and maintain the integration between the expense management system (Expensify) and Oracle NetSuite, ensuring consistent and accurate data flow for expense reporting and accounting
Ensure the year-end process is completed, including 1099 preparation, personal flight details, tax filing, and booking of accruals
Support internal and external audit processes by providing detailed documentation, reconciliations, and explanations as required
Record joint venture activities
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting
Extensive experience in energy accounting
Energy commodity trading confirmations/settlements
Energy commodity trading derivatives
Track record in building trust and establishing a good rapport with operational and administrative team members as well as key external contacts including auditors and tax experts
Preferred/Plus
Commodity settlements, financial reporting, and treasury experience a plus
Knowledge of Oracle NetSuite
Ability to work independently and lead
CPA certification
Skills
Advanced Excel knowledge
Excellent communication skills and time management
Ability to motivate and direct staff
Ability to train and develop staff
Self-directed with ability to enhance process and procedures
Ability to work in a time-sensitive environment to meet deadlines
