Overview
Sr. Financial Analyst (Basic Science Consortium) – 118988 at The Johns Hopkins University We are seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst who will perform complex analysis and planning to assist management in establishing and controlling budgets, setting financial goals, making projections and meeting fiscal objectives. The role includes budgeting, financial planning, revenue and expenditure monitoring against budget, reconciliations and changes, and consolidation. The analyst will extract financial data from accounting and information systems and generate reports, perform complex statistical cost and financial analysis, and provide data-based recommendations on critical financial business decisions. Responsibilities
Interpret data and review data prepared by others to evaluate past financial performance and/or make financial projections to aid management decisions. Coordinate and consolidate departmental financial information for the development of annual operating and capital budgets and five-year plans. Analyze, extract, and define complex financial data; conduct studies to determine cost and financial results and to improve operational and financial effectiveness; review financial needs and explore alternative financing methods. Make budget adjustments and implement cost improvement measures; prepare and present budget proposals to senior management. Create financial systems, structures, and controls; implement quality control and process improvements. Review operating and financial plans, propose program changes, and recommend actions to improve financial performance. Evaluate capital expenditure proposals, profit plans, operating records, and financial statements. Oversee budget accounts; ensure appropriate expenditure of funds and advise on actions to resolve funding shortfalls. Stay informed of laws and regulations impacting compliance and act as a resource for staff. Ensure internal and external compliance using university financial accounting systems and applicable laws and regulations. Use software tools (spreadsheets, databases, statistical/graphics packages) to assemble, manipulate, and report data. Other duties as assigned. In Addition to the duties described above Analyze and review budget submissions and prepare materials for departmental budgets with leadership; ensure follow-up and submission accuracy. Prepare and present financial results to department heads and faculty. Review and approve financial transactions, including purchases, payroll, and travel reimbursements. Serve as the primary financial liaison for assigned units, guiding on all financial matters. Collaborate with leadership to develop materials for financial presentations. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field. Five years of progressively responsible related financial experience. Preferred Qualifications
Strong analytical and modeling capabilities, including extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Technical Qualifications & Specialized Certifications
