We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented
Financial Institutions Underwriter
to join our team. This role involves managing a renewal book and generating new business, focusing on underwriting Financial Institutions business for Package, Worker's Compensation, Auto, General Liability, Umbrella, and International programs. The position is based in the Chicago branch, serving the Midwest Region. The
Financial Institutions Underwriter
will be responsible for developing and implementing a business plan to grow the Financial Institutions book through prospect identification, pipeline development, new business production, and account management within a defined set of agents in the Midwest. The role includes accountability for the financial performance of the book, achieving growth for the branch, region, and territory. The underwriter will identify growth opportunities within new and existing sources, cross-sell opportunities, and conduct agency planning and goal setting, including monitoring progress and making regular broker and insured visits. Position Responsibilities:
Oversee the financial performance of a portfolio, focusing on profit, rate, retention, and growth. Target new business production of $1.5-2.5M and manage renewal portfolios effectively. Develop and negotiate pricing, coverage, terms, and conditions for all new business and renewals, implementing profitable pricing strategies in line with underwriting guidelines. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key trading partners, agents, brokers, and clients. Conduct regular visits to drive submission activity and market penetration. Create and execute a business plan to grow the Financial Institutions book through prospecting, pipeline development, and strategic market penetration. Identify cross-sell opportunities and conduct agency planning and goal setting. Collaborate with Underwriting Associates, Risk Consulting, and Claims teams to retain key renewals and improve service delivery. Gather and share industry intelligence, including trends and developments, to inform strategic decisions and maintain a competitive edge. ABOUT US
