SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Manager of Reimbursement, prepares and analyzes all financial and statistical detail (department, affiliate and consolidated) required to complete cost reports as required by third party and governmental agencies; prepares and analyzes net revenue schedules and entries for month end close; develops the net revenue budget and participates in all third party reimbursement audits for Brown University Health affiliates. Responsibilities

Analyze financial and statistical data used in the individual affiliate reimbursement reports to determine accuracy, year-to-year consistency, and effects on Brown University Health reimbursement or final settlements.

Plan, coordinate, monitor, and verify special projects and activities in the financial planning department for reimbursement, budgeting, forecasting and product line development.

Understand and participate in the development and implementation of Brown University Health and affiliates\' annual net revenue operating budget; coordinate special studies regarding finance and reimbursement of new programs.

Price out government reimbursement payments for new or expanded clinical programs; maintain current knowledge of regulations impacting reimbursement and budgeting.

Analyze the impact of new regulations to assure compliance with directives from governmental/regulatory agencies or third party payers; verify rate calculations and final cost settlements submitted by third party payers and government agencies.

Coordinate third party audits and assist inquiries during audits; assess impact of audit adjustments and inform the Reimbursement Manager.

Prepare and assemble financial and statistical reports required by third party and governmental agencies for reimbursements; quantify estimated rates of reimbursement monthly.

Prepare adjustments of balances in balance sheet and income statements to reflect current liabilities to/from third party and government payers.

Participate in staff meetings and committees; design educational materials interpreting financial analyses for department heads and senior management.

Contribute to development of departmental procedures; troubleshoot issues and keep the Reimbursement Manager informed; develop action plans for formal appeals to third party payers as warranted.

Refine or create methodologies for measuring impact of changes in reimbursement; analyze pass-through and advance payments to ensure proper payments to Brown University Health and affiliates.

Maintain working relationships with affiliate departments and CPA firm as needed to ensure data exchange.

Maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control in accordance with policies and objectives.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor\'s Degree in accounting, finance or related field; comprehensive knowledge of accounting procedures and financial reporting.

Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in health care finance with emphasis on third party reimbursement, financial reporting and analysis, net revenue budgeting/forecasting, and/or product line development.

Experience with Excel-based financial models and database management; experience with EPIC, EPSI, PeopleSoft or similar integrated financial systems.

Work Environment and Schedule Normal office environment. Independent action within a broad scope of department policies and practices; typically reports to the Reimbursement Manager.

Compensation and Benefits Pay Range:

$69,732.94 - $115,039.29
