Overview
Franke Schultz & Mullen, a 65-person law firm, is seeking a Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure compliance with accounting standards. The Controller performs the following duties: Responsibilities
Firm Financial Tasks – bank reconciliations, monthly financial statements, payroll accounting, and coordinating with external accountants on tax filings Lead budgeting and forecasting processes to support organizational goals Accounts Receivable – processing deposits and checks; following up on past due bills Accounts Payable – paying vendors and legal case related expenses such as medical records and deposition transcripts Client Billing – generate and submit client bills on various legal industry billing platforms Firm Administration – work with external IT vendor on technology and data security Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred Proven experience in small business accounting or public accounting roles Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance, and regulatory reporting requirements Solid understanding of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, payroll processing, cash management, budgeting, and forecasting Experience in law firm billing is a plus Seniority level
