Overview
We are working with a
growing boutique accounting firm
that is seeking an experienced
Accounting Manager
to join their team. This is an
in-office position
where you will play an active role in supporting staff, engaging with clients directly, and overseeing a diverse portfolio of accounts. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mix of accounting, bookkeeping, and tax expertise, along with proven client-facing experience. This person will work independently with clients across industries such as real estate, medical practices, and restaurants. This role requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to take engagements from start to finish. Base pay range : $150,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
Manage client accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of services.
Prepare workpapers and complete engagements to 100% completion.
Handle business and personal tax return preparation, including Federal, NJ, and multi-state filings (NJ & NY BAIT).
Process and file sales tax returns.
Manage payroll reporting and compliance using ADP and Paychex.
Work with QuickBooks Online and Desktop for bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Collaborate closely with clients, providing proactive support and advisory services.
Potentially review accounting work and tax returns once proficiency and trust are established.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s a plus).
CPA license preferred.
5–10 years of progressive experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and tax.
Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Online (required) and QuickBooks Desktop (preferred).
Familiarity with sales tax filing and multi-state tax return preparation.
Experience with ADP and Paychex payroll systems.
Strong client-facing and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple clients and priorities independently.
