I am working with a proprietary trading firm based out in New York who are building out their
Equity Capital Markets (ECM) strategy . Their focus is on capturing opportunities around IPOs, follow-ons, and related capital market events, leveraging deep fundamental and quantitative insights across global markets. The Role They are seeking a highly motivated
ECM Associate
to join the team. You will play a key role in identifying, analyzing, and executing trading opportunities in IPOs and other primary market transactions, with a focus on integrating these events into our long/short equity trading strategies. Responsibilities
Track, analyze, and evaluate upcoming IPOs, follow-ons, and secondary offerings, with a focus on identifying trading opportunities Pitch new deals and ECM opportunities to Portfolio Managers and Traders Work closely with the trading team to integrate ECM deal flow into broader long/short equity strategies Maintain relationships with syndicate desks, brokers, and banks to stay close to ECM pipelines Perform deep fundamental analysis of companies entering the market, including valuation, comps, and sector positioning Provide post-IPO analysis, monitoring aftermarket performance, liquidity, and price action Assist in building ECM-focused models and frameworks to support trade idea generation Requirements
2–3 years’ experience in Equity Capital Markets (ECM) or Equity Syndicate at a leading investment bank Demonstrated track record in tracking and pitching IPOs and equity issuance opportunities Strong understanding of long/short equity strategies and how capital market events impact relative value trades Solid foundation in equity valuation techniques (DCF, trading comps, transaction comps) Excellent communication skills, able to present clear, concise pitches to PMs and traders Highly numerate, analytical, and detail-oriented Proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with strong interest in building out a new strategy Seniority level:
