The Workers Compensation & Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's workers compensation program, employee safety initiatives, and regulatory compliance across all nursing home facilities. This role ensures a safe work environment, minimizes workplace injuries, manages claims efficiently, and implements safety programs that protect employees, residents, and the organization.

Responsibilities
Workers Compensation Management:
Administer the workers compensation program, including claims intake, investigation, reporting, and follow-up.
Coordinate with insurance carriers, claims adjusters, and legal counsel to manage claims efficiently and control costs.
Monitor claims trends and implement strategies to reduce workplace injuries and claims frequency.
Safety Program Development & Oversight
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, state regulations, and industry standards.
Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all facilities.
Lead safety committees and collaborate with department leaders to reinforce a culture of safety.
Training & Education
Develop and deliver employee safety training, including infection control, lifting techniques, emergency preparedness, and equipment safety.
Ensure staff are aware of safety policies and workers compensation procedures.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local workplace safety and workers compensation regulations.
Prepare and submit required reports, such as OSHA logs and state workers compensation filings.
Return-to-Work Programs
Develop and manage return-to-work programs for injured employees to facilitate safe, timely reintegration.
Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement
Analyze incident and claims data to identify trends, high-risk areas, and opportunities for improvement.
Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance safety and reduce claims.
Collaboration
Partner with HR, operations, and nursing leadership to ensure alignment of safety and workers compensation programs with organizational goals.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Risk Management, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
5+ years of experience in workers compensation administration and/or occupational safety, preferably in healthcare, long-term care, or nursing home settings.
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers compensation laws, and best practices in workplace safety.
Experience managing claims, safety programs, and return-to-work initiatives.
Certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), or OSHA Training credentials is a plus.
