We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven Audit Manager to join our Seattle-based team, specializing in assurance services for not-for-profit organizations. This role is ideal for a seasoned audit professional who is passionate about serving mission-oriented clients and thrives in a values-based, collaborative environment. The Audit Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and completion of audit engagements while mentoring staff and maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage multiple audit engagements for a diverse portfolio of not-for-profit clients (charitable organizations, foundations, associations).
Plan and execute audits in accordance with U.S. GAAS, when applicable.
Supervise, mentor, and train audit associates and seniors, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
Review and approve workpapers, financial statements, and audit reports for accuracy and compliance.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes affecting the not-for-profit sector.
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing insights on accounting issues, internal controls, and best practices.
Collaborate with partners and firm leadership to drive client-service excellence and engagement profitability.
Support business-development initiatives and assist in proposal writing and client presentations as needed.
Participate in firm initiatives, including training, recruiting, and diversity & inclusion efforts.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Active CPA license (required).
Minimum of 5 years of audit experience (at least 2 years in a supervisory role), with significant exposure to not-for-profit audits.
Strong technical knowledge of GAAS and not-for-profit accounting standards (FASB ASC 958).
Experience with Uniform Guidance / Single Audits (strongly preferred).
Proven leadership, project-management, and client-relationship skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Proficient in audit and accounting software (e.g., CaseWare, ProSystem fx, QuickBooks, Microsoft Office).
Passion for serving the nonprofit sector and making a meaningful impact through quality assurance work.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with IRS Form 990 and other nonprofit compliance requirements.
Experience with grants, endowments, and fund accounting.
Strong understanding of internal-control frameworks relevant to nonprofit organizations.
Experience working with board governance and audit committees.
Pay Range: $115,000 – $150,000
