Overview
A leading national client is seeking experienced attorneys to join its Claims Management & Coverage Counsel team. This role offers the chance to work within a collaborative, client-focused environment that values innovation and professional growth. The Claims Management & Coverage Counsel will provide strategic guidance on claims handling, coverage analysis, and risk management across a range of specialty and professional lines of insurance. This position involves independently managing complex claims and coverage matters, developing resolution strategies, and working closely with clients and external counsel to mitigate legal exposure. Location: Remote or based out of the firm's New York City office. Key Responsibilities
Manage a diverse caseload from initial claim notification through resolution. Analyze coverage, liability, and damages for matters involving professional liability, employment practices, real estate, D&O, and other specialty lines. Draft reservation of rights and coverage denial letters. Monitor claims proactively and develop resolution strategies. Coordinate and oversee outside counsel to ensure effective claim outcomes. Prepare client reports including exposure analysis and reserve recommendations. Participate in direct negotiations and mediations to resolve claims. Collaborate with attorneys and partners on legal projects. Maintain regular communication with clients, carriers, and external counsel. Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. Minimum of 3 years of legal experience in insurance law. Experience drafting coverage letters and legal opinions is a plus. Background in private practice preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in legal research and negotiation. Ability to interpret insurance policies and provide strategic legal guidance. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a high-volume caseload.
