This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the General Counsel, headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As an Attorney-Advisor, you will use your knowledge and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Serving as a legal advisor to the Associate General Counsel and Chief Counsel for the assigned program areas; acting as the primary and principal source of legal advice for the Division Director, Regional Director, POC Heads, and U.S. Attorneys. Preparing briefs, opinions, legal memoranda, and litigation in assigned program areas. Reviewing briefs, preparing interrogatories and other legal papers in cooperation with the appropriate U.S. Attorney. Attending conferences with opposing counsel, and arguing before the court or going to trial. Requirements

Minimum Qualification Requirements: Possess a current active bar membership from any State, territory, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, District of Columbia, or Federal Court. AND Have successfully completed a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from an accredited college and/or university. AND Have four (4) years of professional legal experience post bar admission with one year at GS-14 level, representing parties in commercial, regulatory, civil and related litigation matters; counseling large organizational clients including senior leadership on litigation strategy and options; assessing and resolving problems and identifying key issues for resolution for the General Counsel; and providing guidance to attorneys in other practice areas.
