Description Morgan Stanley Wealth Management offers a variety of wealth management products and services for affluent individuals, businesses, and institutions. These include brokerage and investment advisory, financial and wealth planning, credit and lending, cash management, annuities and insurance, retirement, and trust services.
Position Summary The Global Investment Manager Analysis (GIMA) unit within WM Investment Solutions conducts comprehensive research on a wide range of investment strategies, including managed accounts, mutual funds, UCITs, ETFs, and private vehicles across equity, fixed income, and alternative investments. The GIMA team collaborates with investment managers to identify high-quality strategies for portfolios.
The GIMA Investment Due Diligence Analyst will evaluate alternative investment funds and managers, focusing on hedge fund strategies, for new prospects and ongoing monitoring of existing relationships.
Core Functions
Perform initial and ongoing due diligence on alternative investment strategies, emphasizing hedge funds.
Analyze managers' investment processes, track records, attribution, portfolio construction, and risk management.
Source unique investment opportunities for high-net-worth clients.
Collaborate with internal teams to advise and recommend to investment committees, financial advisors, and clients.
Write research reports and commentaries on fund managers and market trends affecting alternative strategies.
Present findings to internal committees as needed.
Ongoing Activities
Adhere to policies for due diligence, including onsite reviews and report updates.
Interact with teams like Operational Due Diligence, Product Management, Sales, Legal, and Compliance.
Support a collaborative team environment.
Stay updated on market views, hedge fund trends, regulations, and industry developments.
Qualifications Skills required include:
Over 3 years of experience in financial services; experience with alternative investments and hedge funds preferred.
Knowledge of various alternative strategies; existing relationships with asset managers are a plus.
Proficiency with Excel, statistics, Bloomberg, and FactSet.
Experience with financial advisors and clients is advantageous.
Strong communication skills.
CFA, CPA, or CAIA certifications are a plus.
FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses are required or willingness to obtain within 120 days.
Compensation The base salary ranges from $85,000 to $135,000 annually, determined individually, and may include bonuses, incentives, and benefits.
