Team Overview
Our Finance team is a passionate, high-performing group committed to supporting PowerSchool operations through accurate and timely financial transaction management. The team provides critical business guidance on a broad range of accounting, reporting, and analytical projects, ensuring the integrity of financial data.
Responsibilities
Our Accounting team manages business transactions on behalf of the organization, reporting on company performance, issuing financial statements, and maintaining financial records. As Senior Accountant, your day-to-day job will consist of: Oversee higher risk accounting balances and policies like software capitalization (ASC 985 and ASC 350), stock compensation (ASC 718) Conduct financial analysisto assess business performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights for leadership. Ensure timely and accurate financial closes, conducting analytical reviews and variance explanations to maintain balance sheet integrity. Manage and reconcile key balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with US GAAP. Identify process inefficienciesin financial workflows and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy, automation, and scalability. Lead process improvement initiatives, implementing best practices for financial reporting, reconciliations, and transaction processing. Strengthen internal controlsaround financial reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Collaborate with FP&A, tax, and audit teams to optimize financial operations and maintain financial stability. Assist in implementing and refining accounting policiesspecific to SaaS and EdTech industries, aligning them with business objectives. Support external audits and tax filings, ensuring transparency, consistency, and compliance in financial documentation. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 5+ years of relevant and related work experience. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Expertise in GAAP accounting Strong proficiency in balance sheet reconciliations and financial analysis Experience with process improvement methodologies, such as Lean Accounting or automation tools to streamline financial workflows. Advanced knowledge of ERP systems(e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, Workday) and accounting software. Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail, with experience handling complex reconciliations. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Preferred Qualifications CPA or CMA preferred Experience in SaaS and EdTech industries highly desired
