Overview
H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm, seeks a full or part-time Engineer or Architect for a Senior Forensic Consultant role in our Wall, NJ and Parsippany, NJ offices. For this advanced role, we are seeking a candidate who is comfortable acting as a lead engineer in the department with a growing number of responsibilities as we continue our expansion. In addition to technical expertise on assignments, the ideal applicant will excel in customer service and maintaining our important business relationships throughout the insurance industry. Job Responsibilities
Conduct residential and commercial forensic investigations to analyze and determine the cause, origin, and extent of structural failures, water intrusions, roof damage, construction defects, and building system failures for insurance companies, attorneys, private homeowners and property owners. Investigate and assess damages due to catastrophes such as storms, hurricanes, and floods. Research technical publications and literature in support of evaluations, and apply engineering principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standards. Provide detailed forensic engineering reports outlining cause and origin of damage to clients. Manage multiple projects and assume responsibility for project execution within required timeframes. Communicate with staff and clients to provide timelines and project updates on a consistent basis. Experience with premises and walking surface investigations; product defect cases are a plus. Local travel and inspections of homes, roofs and crawlspaces will be required. Experience / Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Architecture or closely related discipline required; Master’s Degree preferred. Minimum 8+ years of engineering or architectural experience and at least one (1) year of forensic engineering experience required. Experience working with insurance companies and law firms preferred. Deposition and expert testimony experience preferred. Strong analytical and field inspection skills. Highly motivated, dependable and conscientious; ability to communicate effectively with clients and subordinates. Ability to write technical reports and working knowledge of building structures. Project management and supervisory experience highly desired. Experience with premises and walking surface investigations; product defect cases a plus. E.I.T required; Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Registered Architect (R.A) license preferred. A part of your role, you may be required to work in environments where the use of a respirator is necessary. H2M will provide appropriate PPE and ensure compliance with safety regulations. You will be required to participate in respirator fit testing, training, and medical evaluations in accordance with OSHA standards and company policy. Travel is required for this position, and you may be required to use your own vehicle for work-related travel including travel to and from job sites if an H2M vehicle is not available. Due to the nature of the position, a flexible schedule may include nights, weekends and holidays, as needed. Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $160,000 annually. The employment offer may deviate from this published range based on factors including experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography and/or related certifications.
