Posted Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 4:00 AM Reporting directly to the Director Product Development within the Product Development Design department, the Product Development Manager (PDM) is responsible for facilitating the planning and execution of Design Partner product lines from conception to final product. Duties include collaborating with internal teams to ensure projects meet expected launch timelines, supporting cross-functional partners in executing development activities, and upholding VCC brand and product standards throughout the process. Responsibilities: Drive manufacturable product designs to completion by collaborating with Design Partners and internal teams, ensuring all requirements are executed with precision. Manage sample development with overseas teams to realize design intent and meet launch timelines. Lead the development of new materials, finishes, and samples to support innovation, quality, and differentiation in the product line. Maintain and systematize product data throughout all stages of the product development life cycle. Support assortment planning and market introductions by preparing and participating in product line reviews. Partner with Marketing to ensure photography, assets, and promotional materials accurately represent product features and details. Represent the company at tradeshows and showroom events (up to four times per year) to support product introductions and gather customer feedback. Works effectively with others in a team environment to accomplish organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems. Exhibits and adheres to the established Visual Comfort Company Values. Must demonstrate commitment, dependability, punctuality, and adherence to agreed-upon schedule. While being present in the workplace to effectively collaborate and communicate amongst co-workers and teams. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience Three to five years of related product development experience. Experience in interior design, custom home building products, luxury home furnishings and/or lighting industry a plus Working knowledge of the product development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, sample development, testing, and market launch. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced): create formulas, pivot tables, and graphs; and use data analysis tools (Excel, PowerBI, or similar) to track costs, timelines, and product performance. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word for technical documents, PowerPoint for presentations, Outlook for communication). Applies design principles (form, function, proportion, finish) to generate product concepts aligned with manufacturability. Applies mathematical concepts (fractions, percentages, ratios, geometry, trigonometry) to solve practical product development problems such as dimensions, tolerances, and material usage. Manages projects independently using project management tools to prioritize tasks, oversee multiple projects, and meet deadlines. Produces clear and accurate presentations, reports, and technical documents; reviews and proofreads specifications, data sheets, and marketing materials for accuracy. Facilitates cross-functional collaboration with Design, Marketing, and Operations to ensure milestones and deliverables are met.
