Job Description Summary This position is less than half-time and scheduled to work September through November and March through May.

Under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director, the Head Women’s Tennis Coach is responsible for all aspects of the development and administration of a successful NCAA Division II Intercollegiate Tennis Program. The program will be conducted in accordance with all University and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules, regulations, and policies.

Essential Duties Plan and hold regular practice sessions (traditional & non-traditional seasons). During scheduled events, coach the team. Determine and put in place the tactics required to encourage the team to achieve peak individual and team performance. Work with local tennis courts and indoor facilities to secure practice times. Develop a thorough and practical understanding of the sport while searching out new ways and strategies. Maintain a complete understanding of all applicable NCAA rules as well as Bentley University's rules and regulations, and be responsible for ensuring that all NCAA rules are followed. Be responsible for spending control and budget administration for the sport. Coordinate all team travel, practice, and competition arrangements with appropriate departmental employees. Recruit high-quality student-athletes and coordinate all recruiting efforts with the appropriate athletics administration. Take a keen interest in student-athletes academic performance. Work collaboratively with all relevant departmental employees to ensure student-athlete academic achievement. Establish and ensure communication and enforcement of rules and regulations regarding student-athlete conduct, appearance and behavior. Other Duties Attend Athletic Department coach’s meetings when possible. Complete all paperwork in a timely manner regarding rosters, meal expenses, eligibility forms, reimbursements, end-of-season reports. Aid the Athletic Training and Sports Information departments in getting material (from players or coaches) that they need. Arrange all transportation, food and lodging for away games. In charge of distribution, collection, and inspection of all related equipment. Meet regularly with Assistant Athletic Director. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. 2-3 years of coaching experience and/or participation in the sport itself at the intercollegiate level or professional level. Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted United States driver’s license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley’s insurance carrier. First Aid and CPR training is required. Proven ability to provide mentoring and leadership to student-athletes and a commitment to student athlete welfare. Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to NCAA/conference rules and requirements relevant to the conduct of an intercollegiate program. Knowledge of athletic recruitment methods and techniques. Proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Excellent analytical, time management and decision-making skills. Work Environment The work environment includes standard office time, but more often time is spent outside on the playing fields at practices or tournaments. A significant amount of time is also spent at traveling tournaments for recruiting purposes and other training facilities.
