Overview
This position will manage project portfolios supporting electric grid technologies and modernization primarily focused on distribution automation. Plans, monitors, and manages complex capital projects with multiple dependencies from conception through commercial operations. Manages projects to on time completion according to specifications and within current budget costs.
Responsibilities
Lead coordination among cross-functional internal teams (business functions / operating companies; information technology; supply chain; regulatory; finance; legal; risk management) and external parties (manufacturers, suppliers, and other potential stakeholders) to develop and deploy grid technologies from concept through commercial operations.
Provide regulatory team engagement support around grid technology investments that includes responding to questions around various project aspects, costs, risks, and benefits including technical, economic and industry comparisons.
Formal identification of project risks and issues, and mitigation plans for both.
Identify critical path workstreams. Ensure timely decisions and take prompt action on project issues that could impact project cost, timelines, and operating performance. Work cross-functionally to address bottlenecks. Communicate issues to next level of leadership that are outside the authority or capability to resolve.
Monitor project budget, development progress and timelines. Provide clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management and external stakeholders, if applicable (e.g., regulators). Prepare and provide reports and presentation updates to project sponsors and upper management.
Implement change management and the implementation of changes with minimal negative impact to the organization.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree in engineering, business, economics, accounting or related field.
7+ years’ professional experience.
5+ years’ experience with regulated electric or gas utilities.
Formal or informal leadership experiences that demonstrate an ability to leverage knowledge, skills and abilities.
Formal or informal experiences in project management, preferably in energy industry.
Preferred and Qualifications
Contract management, cross-organizational communication, and knowledge of distribution work processes.
Knowledge of distribution and/or transmission of electricity and/or gas; solid understanding of project management tools and principles; ability to communicate clearly; ability to influence without direct authority; understanding of Change, Configuration, and Risk Management; intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
Knowledge of Entergy’s cost accounting processes and systems desirable; knowledge of Entergy’s distribution and/or transmission processes and systems (or comparable utility) including new and emerging technologies desirable.
Certificates
Desire Certified Project Manager Professional (PMP) certificate, but not required.
