The Cardiovascular Center of Excellence and the Department of Pharmacology at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans School of Medicine invite applications for an academic faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Interested candidates should have an active and significant extramurally funded program and a vision for collaborative research projects related to cardiovascular research and teaching ability. Reporting to the Director of the Cardiovascular Center of Excellence, this faculty position will be a member of the Cardiovascular Center working collaboratively with the Center’s faculty, fellow departments, and all faculty members to support and advance the strategic goals of the University, School, and Center. The successful candidate should be committed to the development of the Cardiovascular Center of Excellence as a leading research unit of the School of Medicine with a focus on extramural grant funding and academic excellence in support of the research and educational missions of the institution, and a commitment to excellence in academics including medical, graduate and post-graduate education and the mentoring of trainees and junior faculty. The Cardiovascular Center of Excellence and LSUHSC -NO School of Medicine welcome applications from outstanding scientists with an international reputation in the fields of, or related to, all areas of cardiovascular research. Special consideration will be given to those that complement the existing collaborative research strengths of the Center which include Heart Failure, Hypertension, and Autonomic Regulation. Anticipated duties and responsibilities will include sustaining an exceptional research program, mentoring of graduate students/post-doctoral fellows, and participating in the broad health sciences teaching activities of the Center. Rank and track will be dependent on qualifications. To be considered for a tenure track appointment, candidates should have established a nationally reputable, well-funded research program with a track record of high-impact publications. Qualified applicants should have a record of scholarship commensurate with appointment as Associate Professor or Professor; international reputation and track record of success in some aspect of cellular and molecular medicine; a demonstrated commitment to excellence in academics including medical, graduate and post-graduate education and the mentoring of trainees and junior faculty; and the ability to be a leader for the Cardiovascular Center of Excellence, promoting the development of innovative research programs that align with the research mission of the School of Medicine, and the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans. Minimum Qualifications

Required Education:

PhD, MD, or equivalent Required Experience:

A record of scholarship commensurate with appointment as Associate Professor or Professor. Preferred Qualifications

Record of commitment to a culture of institutional stewardship and transparency and efficient and effective business operations. The Professor will be expected to generate successful funding ventures, leveraging the talents of a diverse faculty and staff. Additional Information
