The Computer Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California (Cal Poly) is excited to invite applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning Fall 2026. Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to: teach undergraduate and master's level courses support and expand curricular development in Computer Engineering engage in scholarly work of high quality as evidenced by external peer review perform service activities at all levels of the University join a welcoming and collaborative community of scholars; operate in all areas of computer engineering with emphasis on candidates having background in Computer Organization and Architecture, Engineering Education, Computing Education, Embedded System / IoT and Computer Networks Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Qualified candidates with industry experience are encouraged to apply. Anticipated hiring range:

$110,000 – $123,000

An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Education, or a closely related field is required. Candidates nearing completion (ABD) may be considered with proof that the doctorate will be awarded before or at the start of the appointment. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching, effective communication, and interpersonal skills and must be able to work with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to develop an externally funded, applied research program involving undergraduates and graduates, and partnerships with key stakeholders. Hands-on, student-centered teaching and the ability to work in multidisciplinary settings are required. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required. Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated teaching and research excellence, experience with laboratory-based instruction and/or industry experience. Experience in multidisciplinary and collaborative settings is preferred. Industry experience and a hands-on engineering approach are valued. Experience working with diverse populations is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach areas of need (Computer Organization and Architecture, Computer Networks) and to candidates who can teach in additional areas such as Embedded Systems and IoT. Special Conditions

The position is a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and requires compliance with CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
