Vietnamese - Part-Time Lecturer Pool The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer pool in Vietnamese Studies to teach undergraduate courses in Vietnamese language, culture, business, art, literature, linguistics and/or film. Areas of Specialization Vietnamese Language, Introductory to Advanced Vietnamese Culture, Civilization, and Contemporary Vietnam Vietnamese for Business Vietnamese Literature Vietnamese Linguistics Vietnamese Film This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must hold at least a master's degree in Vietnamese Studies or a related field and possess native-like fluency in Vietnamese to teach lower-division (100- and 200-level) courses, and must hold a Ph.D. (or be a Ph.D. candidate) in Vietnamese Studies or a related field and possess native-like fluency in Vietnamese in order to teach upper-division (300-level) courses. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students. This position requires the legal right to work in the United States of America. California State University, Fullerton cannot sponsor part-time faculty for work visas or permanent residence. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching. Preference will also be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment. Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities. Sample of course syllabi Teaching Evaluations (if available) APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. PERFORMANCE EVALUATION Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. APPOINTMENT AND SALARY All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association.
