The rank of the research scientist is a staff appointment. A research scientist may dedicate their effort entirely to research or combine research, training, and lab managerial activities. Research Scientists are individuals holding a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree who facilitate research programs through collaboration with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and staff. This is a staff appointment. Responsibilities may include research, training, and lab management. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Technical skills and competencies for conducting quantifiable, meaningful research. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds at all organizational levels. Ability to work collaboratively as a positive team member. Proficiency in keyboarding and using standard word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT FOR CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:
Ability to complete and pass the occupational health screening required by the University’s Animal Handler Health Surveillance Program annually. BACKGROUND CHECK, PHYSICAL, AND DRUG SCREENING:
Candidates with contact or exposure to animals or tissues must pass a background check, occupational health screening, and drug screening as applicable, conducted after a conditional offer of employment. Qualifications:
Terminal degree (Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M., etc.). At least 5 years of research experience in a relevant field post-degree. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in an academic environment. More than 5 years of professional research experience. Compensation:
