The
Director, Capital Projects
is responsible for management of the site capital program and execution for all capital projects at the site from business analysis to completion. This will include managing the overall project portfolio as well as individual projects. This role ensures appropriate managing, tracking, reporting of all capital related items. Leads the ranking, prioritization, and selection of capital opportunities to ensure resources are allocated in accordance with site and corporate business objectives. Responsible for facility master planning, site shutdowns and insuring capital investment supports the business objectives of the site. This role will provide the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career, these responsibilities include some of the following: Responsible for delivery of the site capital projects portfolio in accordance with GSK’s policies and procedures. Provide management and tracking of the capital portfolio to ensure business objectives are achieved. Manage individual capital projects in the various business areas (process, facilities, utilities, automation, infrastructure, labs and offices):
Demonstrate good project management skills (schedule, cost, communications) and coordinate outside and internal resources to execute projects in a timely and cost-effective manner Responsible for creating and maintaining facility master planning and support documents Responsible for maintaining plant and facility condition assessment documents
Leads the effort to identify, prioritize, and recommend capital opportunities to site leadership. Defines the procurement strategy and its implementation for construction services and equipment suppliers with the Global Shared Service Procurement and Site Procurement leads Responsible for implementing consistent project control strategy with tools and procedures from the Project Management Framework for cost/forecasting, change control management, physical progress measurement, invoicing, resources and document management. Support the Engineering Department as required where initiatives require capital for implementation. Ensure projects are completed in compliance with applicable standards, policies, and regulations (Global Engineering Standards, GSK policies, cGMP and other regulatory requirements). Ensure smooth handover of responsibilities and expertise to operations at the end of the project. Responsible for designing the project organization structures, define team member roles and assign individual work responsibilities. Communicate concerns and issues of staff, project status, performance and suggestions for improvement to Engineering and Site Leadership team. Leads site shutdowns driven by capital improvements or upgrades and ensure close coordination with operations for shutdown activities. Leads site’s long-term strategy for capital investment based on the facility investment plan as well as the plant and facility condition assessment. Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or science. 10+ years of experience in capital project management. 10+ years in a biotech or pharmaceutical facility. 5+ experience with production operations. Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering, Facilities Management or related field. Strong engineering technical skills in mechanical, chemical, and electrical disciplines. Experience leading and motivating large matrixed teams. Accelerated change management expertise. Individual should be familiar with FDA and cGMP requirements and implementing and maintaining procedures to meet such guidelines. Strong organizational skills are a must.
