This role focuses on policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and coalition building while supporting the organization's broader government relations objectives. The position requires deep expertise in legislative processes, regulatory frameworks, and political dynamics affecting the healthcare industry.CORE FUNCTIONS1. Conducts comprehensive analysis of proposed legislation and regulatory changes to assess organizational impact and develop position recommendations. Monitors legislative calendars, committee activities, and regulatory proceedings across multiple jurisdictions. Prepares detailed briefing materials, position papers, and talking points for executive leadership and board presentations. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to gather input on policy positions and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.2. Builds and maintains relationships with key legislative staff, regulatory officials, and policy influencers at federal, state, and local levels. Serves as primary liaison with mid-level government officials and their staff members. Coordinates meetings and briefings between organizational leadership and government officials. Manages ongoing communication strategies with elected officials' offices and regulatory agencies.3. Represents the organization in industry associations, coalitions, and advocacy groups. Participates in working groups and committees focused on specific policy areas relevant to organizational interests. Coordinates with peer organizations on joint advocacy initiatives and shared policy positions. Monitors and reports on association activities and emerging industry trends.4. Serves as day-to-day contact for external government relations consultants and lobbying firms. Coordinates strategy development and implementation with external partners. Monitors deliverables and performance metrics for contracted government relations services. Ensures consistent messaging and approach across all external representation efforts.5. Collaborates with public relations and communications teams on politically sensitive issues. Develops messaging frameworks for government relations activities and public policy positions. Supports crisis communication efforts related to regulatory or legislative challenges. Ensures consistent and accurate representation of organizational positions across all government relations activities.6. Implements government relations programs and initiatives as directed by the Vice President. Ensures compliance with lobbying registration requirements and reporting obligations. Manages government relations budget components and tracks expenditures. Coordinates with legal counsel on regulatory compliance and ethics requirements. Supports appropriations processes and grant application efforts as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust possess a thorough knowledge of government relations and/or business as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in business, journalism or related fieldMust possess a **strong background in corporate public and government affairs as normally obtained through ten plus years of related experience.** Must have a strong knowledge and background of healthcare finance, legal issues, as well as federal and state medical care regulatory issues.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMaster’s degree preferred.
