Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

The Senior Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist advocates, upholds and ensures that documentation standards are met. This position maintains an understanding of medical staff by-laws, accreditation entities, and state & federal regulations and how they influence the documentation practices & standards of healthcare organizations.

Responsibilities

Complete process and standard work auditing and targeted focus studies supporting functional managers to drive best practices and performance improvement initiatives.

Represents the official record of care on behalf of BJC regarding legal requirements (ie. depositions, subpoenas, court appearance and affidavits).

Performs and oversees the regulatory audit process (ie. CMS - RAC and non-RAC, TJC, State) to ensure timely and compliant responses.

Provides ongoing feedback and collaborates on Action Plans to improve processes and to address non-compliant findings.
