The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP) in Seattle, WA has a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 with the Specimen Procurement Team at the University of Washington Medical Center - Montlake. Are you passionate about science and ready to make a real impact on patient care? As a CLT 1, you will play a vital role in the diagnostic process of laboratory testing. Whether you are processing and preparing specimens for testing, performing blood draws on patients, or providing excellent customer service, you are influencing the timely and accurate diagnosis of patients at UW Medicine and beyond. Work Schedule 100% FTE Day shift What You’ll Contribute Perform specimen processing activities, such as receiving, sorting, and prioritizing specimens and requests, matching specimens against requisitions, centrifuging and aliquoting specimens, and performing blood draws on patients. Provide customer service by responding promptly, courteously, and professionally to inquiries from patients, clients, and hospital and laboratory staff. Share your knowledge by orienting and training new employees and participating in performance improvement activities. Utilize problem-solving skills to resolve specimen and order-related problems in a timely and accurate manner. What You’ll Need High school graduation or equivalent and one year of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience. Completion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Equivalent education/experience. Additional DLMP Requirements Completion of a Phlebotomy course. Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist (MA-P) certification with the Washington State Department of Health or obtain the MA-P certification within 60 days of start date. Desired Qualifications Associate or bachelor degree in science. Experience in a major medical hospital laboratory. Experience with a Laboratory Information System (LIS). What We Offer $3,000 sign-on bonus available for eligible new employees joining the UW Medicine team. Vacation time and sick time off that accrues monthly, including 12 paid holidays.
