Senior Embedded Software Engineer Job Description: What You Will Do: Collaborate closely with stakeholders to define requirements and design new features with minimal oversight. Examine cybersecurity measures for processors and microcontrollers; create Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) and guide suppliers through implementation. Investigate and innovate new cybersecurity capabilities. Engage with the open-source community to enhance existing cybersecurity functionalities and initiate new projects for widespread adoption. Write software adhering to team coding guidelines and industry best practices, such as SEI CERT and AUTOSAR. Work alongside CI/CD teams to enrich the build and release pipeline, tailoring it for emerging projects. Partner with testing teams to formulate strategies and support the development of automated tests. Lead internal testing efforts and provide direction in the absence of regular leadership. Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, sharing best practices for design, implementation, and quality assurance. Conduct root cause analyses on defects to drive initiatives that improve product quality and testing processes. Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure alignment on deliverables, timelines, and testing results. Facilitate agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and retrospectives to foster effective teamwork. Stay updated on industry trends in embedded systems development and advocate for continuous process improvements. What We Are Seeking: Over 10 years of experience in embedded systems software development that includes both hardware and software aspects. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional expertise. Strong proficiency in embedded programming languages (C, C++) and a comprehensive knowledge of RTOS. Hands-on experience with embedded Linux development including Linux driver development, BSP integration/customization (e.g., Yocto), and board bring-up. Expertise in testing tools and frameworks with experience in developing automated tests. A deep understanding of communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART) and hardware interfaces. Excellent problem-solving capabilities and meticulous attention to detail. Proven leadership and communication skills with the ability to mentor and guide teams effectively. Experience working with embedded security features like secure boot, TrustZone, and filesystem encryption. Prior experience with compliance to safety and security standards such as SEI CERT and AUTOSAR. Professional certifications including OSCP, SANS/GIAC, CISSP, or equivalent. Knowledge of compliance regulations, security frameworks, and standards (e.g., ISO/SAE 21434, NIST, HIPAA, COBIT, OWASP, ITIL). An industry background in law enforcement, defense, intelligence, automotive, manufacturing, or software development. Fluency in Japanese (reading, writing, speaking) for both business and technical interactions.
