Virgin Galactic is seeking first rate highly motivated Senior Systems Technician to support our Manufacturing team in Mesa. This role is for hands-on people with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. The individual should also be highly agile with a willingness to overcome challenges and complete projects. The work you will be performing includes but not limited to pneumatic tube and valve installation, hydraulic systems installation, hybrid rocket propulsion installation, landing gear, flight control actuators, cabin ECS, A/C systems troubleshooting and other dynamic and exciting spacecraft manufacturing operations.
Work Schedule:
4/10 Onsite Thursday through Sunday Day Shift (6:00am - 4:30pm)
Responsibilities
Assemble and install system components and assemblies of varying complexities and sizes
Ability to safely and correctly Utilize Shop Tools/Machinery to include......(Drills, Die Grinders, Calipers, etc.)
Ability to safely and correctly drill a variety of hole sizes in both composite and metal structures, including stack-ups of dissimilar materials
Understanding and familiarity with different fastener types including Hi-Lok, Hi-Lite, Composi-Lok, etc.
Proven technical aptitude and experience
Familiarity with MS flareless fittings and other standard O-rings
Requires the ability follow and document complex processes
Must be willing to work in both a team environment and individually as circumstances dictate
Hands-on aircraft manufacturing with either/both composite and metallic airframes
Follow instructions precisely to complete complex assemblies accurately
Utilize computer skills to support manufacturing of product(s)
Ability to apply current manufacturing skillset as well as a willingness to learn cutting edge spacecraft manufacturing techniques
Required Skills and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent
3+ Years of experience with aircraft manufacturing and aerospace structures required or equivalent industry experience
Hands-on experience in a precision yet manual manufacturing setting strongly preferred
Proficient in using specialized tools and equipment to assemble and/or repair aircraft
Proficient in identifying, installing, and removing common aircraft fasteners
Must be able to take direction well
Work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with constantly evolving roles and responsibilities
Extreme attention to detail and continual pursuit of perfection
Excellent listening and communication skills
Airframe & Power plant (A&P) training preferred but not required
Excellent organizational skills and problem-solving skills
Experience with manufacturing-based ERP systems a plus
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
Strong safety forward thinking, recognizes the importance of properly handling hazardous materials, chemicals, tools, etc.
Have the drive to see a program from the beginning of manufacturing to full rate spaceship production
Influences technical project, fellow technicians, or interdepartmental functions to achieve goals or solve problems

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $53,040.00-$72,665.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
