Tax Managing Director, Core Tax Services

The Tax Managing Director is responsible for applying industry-specific knowledge to advise clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, evaluating and selecting alternative actions to lessen tax burden and cost of compliance, identifying different methods of complying with tax regulations while acting as the primary client contact for complex tax issues. In this role, the Tax Managing Director is charged with applying knowledge to understand potential tax issues, recognizing, communicating potential risks and potential changes in the tax policy, and making top-level decisions regarding filing, preparation, and resolution of questions from federal/state agencies. The Tax Managing Director will be a critical member of the office/region leadership team and will be involved in the direct supervision as either a final or secondary reviewer under the partner. The Tax Managing Director will also actively participate in marketing, networking, and business development within an area of expertise and specialization while maintaining client relationships and acting as the primary contact for complex questions. Responsibilities

Tax Compliance: Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens. Research: Identifies when research is needed, frames issues to be researched, and reports the analysis. ASC 740 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals: Applies Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48. Tax Consulting: Develops, recommends, and implements efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits. Tax Specialization: Develops an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding one or more areas of taxation. Strategy Development: Introduces and develops new or improved ideas to improve the position of clients, the Firm, or Firm personnel. Supervisory Responsibilities

Ability to supervise associates, senior associates, and managers. Reviews work prepared by associates and senior associates and provides review comments. Acts as a Career Advisor to associates, senior associates, and managers. Requirements

Bachelor's degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred. Master's in Accountancy or Taxation preferred. Ten or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience required. Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties preferred. CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) required.
