Senior Network Engineer

Job Description – Senior Network Engineer Position Overview ESI is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, manage, and support our organization’s network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will ensure high levels of network availability, security, and performance across LAN, WAN, wireless, and cloud environments. Key Responsibilities Design, configure, and maintain enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN networks. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure minimal downtime. Implement and maintain firewalls, routers, switches, and other network hardware. Manage IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, EIGRP). Ensure network security by applying best practices, managing access controls, and monitoring for vulnerabilities. Support VoIP, video conferencing, and cloud-based networking solutions. Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to enforce compliance and security policies. Provide Tier 2/3 network support and escalate issues as needed. Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures. Research and recommend improvements for scalability, redundancy, and emerging technologies. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or 3 years equivalent experience). 7+ years of experience as a Network Engineer, Network Administrator, or related role. 5 years experience with PC Operating Systems (e.g. DOS, Windows) and helpdesk support Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, and switching. Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, or similar enterprise networking equipment. Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP) preferred. Experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark, etc.). Relevant certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent) highly desirable. Soft Skills Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
