ROLE
We need an experienced Records & Information Manager at GAO (Government Accountability Office). GAO is an independent, legislative branch agency that assists Congress through audits, evaluations, and investigations of federal programs/ The records & Privacy (R&P) department withing GAO preserves organizational knowledge and enforces recordkeeping policies and standards. In this role, you will plan, staff, and oversee enterprise-level records management efforts; develop or update records systems; and provide comprehensive oversight of staffing, budgeting, schedule management, and monitoring. RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, staff, and oversee enterprise records management initiatives and system development/updates
Provide oversight of staffing, budgeting, scheduling, and performance monitoring for records management functions
Direct agency-wide records inventory and file plan development; ensure each program’s records are identified, scheduled, and maintained per retention schedules; coordinate with RIM Specialists and program POCs
Establish classification and indexing standards; require metadata documentation and enforce 100% QA on documents
Lead records appraisal to confirm business needs, adjust retentions, and identify new series; determine archival value under GAO and NARA guidance
Own digitization strategy and tracking, including priorities, milestones, monitoring deviations, and QA; ensure meeting summaries are captured with correct metadata
Architect and oversee enterprise and role-based training, policies, and how-to guides delivered within 90 days and ongoing; support Capstone Officials and new-hire orientations
Set supervision and quality-control expectations for contractor staff; monitor day-to-day management outputs and compliance
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
5+ years of experience performing records management support services to federal government agencies
REQUIRED EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in an information or business discipline – Required
