JCC Association of North America Position Summary Reporting to the May Center Executive Director, the Director of Aquatics will be responsible for the leadership, daily operations, departmental development and management of the Operations management team and the Aquatics division of the May Center to maximize operational efficiencies, safety and patron/member experience; while supporting program participation, member retention and Center profitability. Principal Responsibilities:
Provides senior leadership and management oversight for May Center Aquatics division. Responsible for the recruitment, training, scheduling, professional development, and management of the Aquatics leadership staff. Attends Aquatics, Membership and other May Center divisional meetings to provide leadership and support - and to provide operational insights and training to boost customer service delivery. Oversees all supervisory, strategic planning, budgetary compliance and administrative responsibilities for the Aquatics division. Meets regularly with Operations directors to strategize pro-active maintenance and repair schedules for aquatics areas Directs Aquatics leadership team to ensure the delivery of high-quality Aquatics programming and pool experiences at 92NY and off-site locations. In collaboration with the Aquatics directors, provides high level oversight of the Aquatics division and budgets, ensures cost controls and the achievement of established Aquatics and Operations-related financial goals. Audits and completes Aquatics payrolls. Delivers nationally sanctioned certification classes; including but not limited to Lifeguard Training and Water Safety Instructor training, when needed. Organizes and supervises the Special Olympics Swim team and assists in fundraising opportunities. Coordinates with May Center and Aquatics leadership on pool schedules for members and programming. Collaborate with the Senior Director of Member Experience, Financial Management Team, and Human Resources to optimize existing operating systems and ensure all aquatics staff are effectively trained on May Center technologies, including but not limited to Salesforce, Traction Rec, TCP, UPACE, and Tessitura. Establishes a professional work environment, ensuring that the rules of the facility are followed at all times. Effectively and positively supports and communicates decisions of the May Center management team. Handles and reports emergencies, ensuring that records of incidents and accidents reports are forwarded accordingly, and ensures that all staff are following these procedures. Provides high level input for NYC department of Health inspections and guideline adherence. In liaison with the Development department, develops and organizes fundraising activities. Assists in the creation, implementation of 92NY building-wide safety initiatives for all types of emergencies. Assists May Center Executive Director in other duties as requested. Manages and responsible for the first aid, CPR and Responding to Emergency trainings for all 92NY Camp staff. Provides high level oversight for Aquatics programming and staffing for three 92NY pools and off-site locations. Coordinates with rental partners for scheduling, payment and summer programming. Provides oversight and guidance to camp leadership for both on and off-site aquatic programming. Attends all Henry Kaufman camp planning meetings Oversee the creation of the pool schedules for all YOMI and in-house aquatic camp programs. Minimum Qualifications: Educational Requirements
4-year college degree in exercise science or fitness-related field preferred Experience, Skills And Qualifications Minimum of eight years of teaching, coaching and management experience in the aquatics industry. Lifeguard Training, Lifeguard Training Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, Advanced CPR & First Aid required; USA Swimming coaching experience and certification a plus. Proven ability to be a strong leader and delegate tasks appropriately. Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner. Proven ability to work with people of all ages and abilities in a high traffic environment. Proven problem-solving abilities. Demonstrable entrepreneurial skills along with the ability to identify and promote both the May Center and 92NY's mission. Detail-oriented, organized and highly responsive with a commitment to customer service. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, customer service skills, computer skills and basic accounting knowledge. Results oriented, with the ability to multi-task, and possess a commitment to the fitness industry. Work Hours and Environment 40 hours/week. Compensation Range $95,000 - $115,000
