Overview
Senior Opto-electrical Engineer – Diagnostics; responsible for overseeing the design and integration of optoelectrical systems for multiple diagnostics at Pacific Fusion’s demonstration system. Responsibilities
Design and develop electronic circuits for laser control and characterization Integrate and characterize optoelectronic components, including photodetectors, modulators, laser systems, and high-speed camera diodes Develop and implement RF signal detection and processing techniques for optical systems Work with single-mode and multi-mode fiber optics for system integration and signal transmission Perform system-level testing, data analysis, and debugging of optical and RF systems Collaborate with cross-functional teams including optics, mechanical, and software engineers Document design specifications, test procedures, and technical reports Stay current with advancements in photonics, RF systems, and relevant technologies Qualifications
Expertise in several of the following: RF signal detection and processing Laser systems and drivers Optoelectronic modulation (e.g., EOMs, AOMs) Fiber optic integration and alignment Proficient with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and optical power meters Strong understanding of analog and mixed-signal circuit design Preferred (but not required)
Experience with high-speed digital electronics and data acquisition systems Familiarity with optical communication systems and photonic integrated circuits Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW for test automation and data analysis Knowledge of radiation effects on electrical systems Experience working closely with PhD scientists and R&D technology organizations Benefits
