Talascend is currently seeking a Design Release Engineer for

Powertrain Systems with a leading automotive manufacturer located

in

Allen Park, Michigan .

OVERVIEW The Powertrain Systems Engineer will be responsible for design and release of coolant lines and high voltage cable assemblies, working with suppliers to select and source components. RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and release of coolant hose and/or tube assemblies. Design and release of high voltage cable assemblies. Work with thermal system technical specialist to identify system level requirements for coolant hose sizing. Select coolant hose and fitting types compatible with end components and system requirements. Work with HV systems engineers to select cable size and mating connectors compatible with each of the HV components. Working with CAD designers to route coolant line assemblies with proper bend radii appropriate for the manufacturing method/line type and retention methods as required. Working with CAD designers to route HV cable assemblies with proper bend radius and retention methods. Identify and document assembly process for high voltage cable assemblies and coolant lines. Work with 2D detailers to create drawings of cable assemblies and coolant lines including appropriate tolerancing. Work with suppliers to conduct regularly occurring technical reviews of requirements and designs. Obtain preliminary quotes for use in supplier selection and ensure on time delivery plans are in place once final suppliers are determined. Provide status updates and formal presentation to customers both written and verbal. Develop and execute DVP&R. Work with CAE team to define and conduct FEA assessments. QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related degree Prior production Design and Release Engineering experience High mechanical aptitude, working knowledge of generic product development tasks from inception to production. Understanding of fundamental thermal fluid dynamics and electrical engineering. Ability to read and interpret technical prints and assembly instructions. Working knowledge of GD&T. Familiarity with dFMEA and DVP&R documents. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work both independently and in team settings while possibly handling multiple assignments simultaneously. TeamCenter experience. Understanding of CAD modeling techniques to communicate design direction with design team. Understanding of manufacturing techniques for HV cable assemblies and cooling line assemblies including, but not limited to: Material selection and compatibilities, Connector crimping types and techniques, Hose and tube interface, sealing, and retention methodologies, Forming processes and geometric limitations.
