Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV region) Job Overview ARQ General Contracting is seeking an experienced and driven Commercial Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. Who We Are ARQ General Contracting is a dynamic and growing firm specializing in commercial construction, tenant build-outs, spec suites, retail spaces, and high-end projects across Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Key Responsibilities
Project Oversight: Manage day-to-day field operations, ensuring projects are built safely, on schedule, and within budget. Coordination: Lead and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and site staff while fostering positive relationships with architects, engineers, property managers, and clients. Quality Control: Monitor workmanship and enforce company standards through inspections and adherence to drawings, specifications, and building codes. Safety Leadership: Implement and enforce site safety protocols in compliance with OSHA and company standards, maintaining a clean and hazard-free worksite. Scheduling & Documentation: Develop and update project schedules, maintain daily logs, RFIs, and punch lists, and collaborate with project managers to forecast labor, materials, and equipment needs. Problem Solving: Anticipate and resolve field conflicts to minimize delays and additional costs. Client Interaction: Represent ARQ professionally, ensuring client satisfaction through clear communication and responsive leadership. Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction (interiors, tenant build-outs, spec suites, retail, or mixed-use preferred). Strong knowledge of building codes, construction means & methods, and safety standards. Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and meet aggressive project schedules. Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Buildertrend, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. OSHA 30 certification preferred. Reliable transportation with the ability to travel throughout the DMV region. Benefits
