Annual Bonus Position: Construction Superintendent – Department of Defense Projects
Compensation: $110,000 – $145,000 annually plus bonus between $20,000-$60,000 a year, company truck, 100% paid for benefits, local projects within 30 miles, 6am-2pm M-F. 5% 401k match. Industry: Federal Construction / Department of Defense My client is seeking a Project Superintendent with extensive experience in large-scale construction projects, particularly those involving federal work but open to commercial project experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a major project or multiple project sites across San Diego County. This position plays a key role in ensuring project success from groundbreaking through close-out, maintaining excellence in safety, quality, scheduling, and compliance. Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary on-site representative for all phases of construction, from mobilization to punch-out. Supervise, coordinate, and manage subcontractors and field crews. Lead daily and weekly construction site meetings and schedule updates. Enforce and promote job site safety; coach subcontractors on safe work practices. Maintain strict quality control standards and ensure subcontractor deficiencies are corrected. Manage project schedules and identify critical paths for trades and vendors. Oversee material procurement, take-offs, and inventory. Collaborate with the main office, project managers, and general superintendents on progress and planning. Interface directly with clients, DoD representatives, and contract officers to resolve issues and maintain strong working relationships. Review and interpret all drawings, specifications, submittals, and design changes. Support project success through proactive problem-solving and coordination with design teams and clients. Preferred Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Superintendent on commercial or government construction projects. Proven leadership on DoD and/or NAVFAC projects ranging from $100K to $5M+. Strong knowledge of general ledger, job costing, and construction administration. Familiar with design-build contracts and government compliance requirements. Proficient in reading construction plans, schematics, and specifications. Experience managing subcontractors, tradespeople, and project schedules. Able to work full-time on-site; remote work not available. Preferred Skills & Attributes
