Sr. Scientist, Computational Chemistry (6 month contract) Neurocrine Biosciences is expanding our R&D chemistry capabilities. In this six-month contract role, you will contribute to computational chemistry efforts to design optimized compounds with balanced properties across drug discovery programs, from early lead identification to late-stage optimization. You will be a member of multi-disciplinary drug discovery teams including medicinal chemists, DMPK, structural biologists and pharmacologists.

Responsibilities

Join and potentially lead the development of an in-silico modeling platform within the Chemistry Department.

Contribute to structure-based design to support drug discovery projects; employ computational methods to expedite the Design–Make–Test–Analyze cycle.

Develop and maintain predictive ML/AI in-silico models for DMPK and in-vitro biology endpoints to enable efficient MPO analyses.

Generate productive hypotheses from protein–ligand docking leading to optimized compounds in subsequent design cycles.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to rationalize experimental results and guide SAR evolution.

Identify and develop/refine new computational methods aligned with project needs to augment Neurocrine’s computational chemistry platform.

Engage stakeholders from multiple Research functions to deliver and exchange key results.

Stay current with literature and apply innovative computational approaches to improve platform capabilities.

Requirements

BS/BA degree in Chemistry with 5+ years of relevant experience, including experience with machine learning/AI-based predictive modeling, cheminformatics, and protein–ligand modeling; or

MS/MA degree in Chemistry with 3+ years of relevant experience; or

3+ years of post-Ph.D experience preferred.

Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.

Good knowledge of scientific principles and laboratory tools; strong computer skills.
