Overview
Construction Estimating Manager position at DAVID HALL MASONRY, INC., located in Ripon, CA. Lead a growing Estimating Department, oversee a team of 3-4 estimators, and drive the preparation of accurate and timely bid proposals while maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams. Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing estimating team; review and provide feedback on estimator performance; manage department KPIs. Evaluate bid invitations, assign estimating projects, oversee preparation and submission of accurate, competitive bids, and revise estimates as needed. Coordinate input from departments, subcontractors, and suppliers to develop complete proposals; ensure compliance with client requirements and internal standards. Maintain bid log and estimating database for tracking and historical reference; ensure proper input during the proposal process. Act as primary point of contact for clients during the proposal stage; maintain client relationships and identify opportunities for future business. Participate in pre- and post-bid meetings; coordinate with the President on strategic decisions; review awarded contracts against bid documents before execution. Establish and enforce a robust, standardized estimating process; conduct desk reviews to ensure documented work begins correctly and change orders are tracked. Support handoff to Project Management when projects are awarded. Review supplier and subcontractor quotations; analyze data for cost efficiencies and apply cost engineering techniques to reduce project costs; monitor economic trends and assess risk in estimating strategy. Assist with building permit submissions as needed and promote company services to existing and prospective clients. Qualifications
5+ years of experience in construction estimating or a related leadership role. High School Diploma or GED required; additional coursework in construction management or business preferred. Strong leadership abilities with experience mentoring estimating teams; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication; client-focused with ability to present proposals and lead meetings. Highly numerate with strong analytical skills; attention to detail in evaluating bid proposals and change orders. Ability to read and apply technical documents, architectural plans, and government regulations; proficient in writing reports and procedural documentation. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project; advanced experience with On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, and Procore. In-depth knowledge of construction industry standards, cost estimating methodologies, and ability to research and present proposals effectively. Benefits
