Overview
The AME Mechanic possesses a high degree of expertise in the performance of rigging explosive link-ages/devices applicable to seats and canopy, flow checks on egress systems, replacement, fitting and rigging of aircraft canopy, canopy drive and canopy locking mechanisms and provides technical assistance, guidance and instruction to employees in the AME Mechanic classification and to others throughout the aviation team as required. May be required to perform Leadman duties when designated and authorized. Major Job Activities
Conduct on-the-job training and maintenance of personnel seat/cockpit safety checkout training records and will be experienced and qualified in the removal and replacement of ejection seats and explosive devices. Responsible for all egress system on and off equipment maintenance on Adversary F-5 aircraft. Removes, transports, inspects, repairs and reinstalls ejection seats. Responsibilities (Additional)
Inspects, repairs and cleans seat harnesses. Inventories, stores, removes and replaces seat CAD/PAD explosive items. Experienced and qualified in the rigging of explosive linkages/devices applicable to seats and canopy. Perform flow checks on egress systems; experience in the fitting and rigging of aircraft canopy, canopy drive and locking mechanisms. Must have in-depth working knowledge of aircraft safety directives. Performs aircraft inventory, acceptance and transfer inspections. Materials & Equipment Directly Used
Work Orders in NALCOMIS/OOMA, Standard Navy Support Equipment, Lifts, Stands, Hoists. Working Environment
The diversity of work conditions may range from minimal to exposed environments with inclement weather, high noise, electrical shock hazards, fumes or airborne particles. Physical Activities
This role typically occurs in a shop/hangar/outdoor flight line environment and includes activities such as climbing, standing, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, walking and working in tiring positions. May require lifting objects up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus. Qualifications
Education / Certifications
One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. Must have successfully completed approved course or training as required by Company, State/Local Government, DOD, regulation/Instruction. Personnel shall be qualified according to their field of expertise and the level of maintenance assigned, i.e., “O” or “I” level. Must possess or be able to obtain a secret clearance. Must be a US citizen and have completed high school or equivalent. Experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy. Experience
Aircraft Airframes mechanics shall have three years’ experience in their specific aircraft maintenance occupational field. The last two years must have been as a practicing licensed FAA airframe and power plants mechanic; in the military; civil service (WG-7-10), or with a government aviation maintenance Contractor. Must read, write, speak, and understand English. Customer service oriented with the ability to communicate professionally, courteously and respectfully. Basic data entry in computer systems.
