Principal / Senior Principal Mechanical Design Engineer - R10209617-2 Base pay range: $100,300.00/yr - $187,300.00/yr Relocation assistance may be available. Clearance: Polygraph. IPT-Level role, member of HW Design Team. This role is responsible for segment and CI mechanical design and works at the Segment/IPT level of an extremely complex system comprised of multiple segments. The engineer will support the hardware design team lead, partner with other engineering functions to progress and mature the segment, and support critical engineering reviews and milestones (e.g., SRR, SFR, SDR, PDR, CDR, SVR, TRR). This position may be filled as either Principal Mechanical Design Engineer or Senior Principal Mechanical Design Engineer. The role requires on-site work and US government security clearance per customer requirements. Location
This position is on-site in Redondo Beach, CA or the greater Baltimore, MD area. Basic Qualifications — Principal Mechanical Design Engineer
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with at least 5 years of experience; 3 years with Master’s Degree; or 1 year with PhD Familiarity with architectural studies, technical baseline definition, requirements & interface management Familiarity with Systems Engineering fundamentals, principles, and processes, specifically system architecture Proficient with 3D design/2D drawing CAD in NX Experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering teams Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong technical briefing skills This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen Current Active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI and a Polygraph prior to start Basic Qualifications — Senior Principal Mechanical Design Engineer
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with at least 8 years of experience; 6 years with Master’s Degree; or 4 years with PhD Familiarity with architectural studies, technical baseline definition, requirements & interface management Familiarity with Systems Engineering fundamentals, principles, and processes, specifically system architecture Proficient with 3D design/2D drawing CAD in NX Experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering teams Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong technical briefing skills This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen Current Active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI and a Polygraph prior to start Preferred Qualifications
Current Active DoD TS/SCI with Polygraph Master’s degree or PhD in Physics, Engineering, or a related field specializing in thermodynamics and heat transfer Experience with thermal experiments for model validation and material characterization Experience with MBSE and Requirements management tools (e.g., Cameo, DOORS) Familiarity with hardware/software integration, test planning & execution, or operational support Familiarity with Jira/Confluence Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau) Salary Details
Primary Level Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00 The above ranges are guidelines; base salary offers consider scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
