The Structural Engineer V performs difficult professional structural engineering work in supervising and participating in the design and construction of various public works construction projects; prepares and supervises the preparation and/or review of structural designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports; and performs other duties as required. There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Design & Construction, Civil Division, located in Honolulu. This position is responsible for a number of complex and major structural engineering projects operating simultaneously. There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Planning and Permitting, Building Division, located in Honolulu. As the Research Staff in the Building Division, performs professional engineering work under the general direction of the Chief of Building Safety in conjunction with the administration and enforcement of the codes by the Building Division, in the study and evaluation of plans, codes and materials and methods to be used under the codes. Supervises the work of structural engineers and others assigned. If you qualify for the position, your name will be established to an eligible list. This list may be used to fill current and/or future vacancies in this and/or other departments. Minimum Qualification Requirements
At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment. Education Requirement
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four year college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. A foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. Attach an electronic copy of diploma and/or official transcript showing the embossed seal or applicable FCE to your application. One year of registered professional (post-bachelor's degree) structural engineering experience. License Requirements
Possession of a valid license as a professional structural engineer in the State of Hawaii. Applicants with a current out-of-state professional structural engineer license must obtain their Hawaii license prior to appointment. Submit a copy of your license.
