Location: 3601 Algonquin Rd. Rolling Meadows, IL 60008 (Occasional Overnight Travel)

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8A-4P OR 9A-5P

Status: Full-time (exempt)

Compensation: Starting $80K annually

Position Summary: The Security System Solution Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and integrating advanced security solutions that align with client needs and organizational standards. This role combines technical expertise in CCTV, access control, and alarm systems with a strong IT and networking background to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure solutions. The Security System Solution Architect will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure successful end-to-end deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

CCTV Systems

Design and deploy surveillance systems, including IP and analog cameras.

Configure and support Video Management Systems (VMS) such as Digital Watchdog, Milestone, Genetec, or Avigilon.

Evaluate camera types, resolutions, lenses, and placement strategies for optimal coverage.

Integrate CCTV systems with analytics tools (motion detection, facial recognition, perimeter security).

Access Control Systems

Implement and manage access control software including DMP, ICT, PDK, Kantech, LenelS2, Honeywell, Alarm.com, or Brivo.

Select and integrate credential technologies (RFID, biometrics, keypads, smart cards).

Design scalable access control systems integrated with IT networks and cloud services.

Ensure seamless integration between access control and other security solutions (CCTV, alarms).

Burglary Alarm Systems

Deploy alarm systems from vendors such as DMP, ICT, DSC, or Honeywell.

Configure sensors and devices (motion detectors, glass break sensors, panic buttons).

Integrate alarm systems with monitoring centers for real-time alerts and incident response.

IT & Network Security

Design secure network topologies, including VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, switches, and gateways.

Integrate IoT-enabled smart security devices into enterprise networks.

Ensure system integrity through encryption, firewalls, and secure communication protocols.

Troubleshoot and resolve network and device issues during system deployment.

Emerging Technologies

Explore and apply AI-driven surveillance, IoT-enabled access controls, and cloud-based monitoring solutions.

Engage with trends like AI-based surveillance, IoT-enabled access controls, and cloud monitoring.

Other Responsibilities

Travel to job sites to ensure installation processes are being followed.

Occasionally travel overnight for projects.

Perform other duties as assigned by Silver Star management.

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of protocols such as TCP/IP, ONVIF, PoE, RTSP, and SNMP.

Proven ability to integrate multiple systems into a unified solution.

Proficiency with design tools (AutoCAD, System Surveyor, Bluebeam) for layouts and system diagrams.

Soft Skills

Strong project management abilities to oversee end-to-end deployments within scope, budget, and deadlines.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex systems to non-technical stakeholders.

Analytical and solution-oriented approach to meet unique client/site requirements.

Certifications (Not Required but Advantageous)

IT Certifications:

CompTIA Network+, Security+, CCNA, or CEH.

Vendor Certifications:

VMS platforms (Milestone, Avigilon, Genetec) and leading alarm/access control providers.

Requirements:

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Security Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

5+ years of experience in security system design, deployment, and integration.

Proven track record of delivering enterprise-level security projects.
