Leads, guides, coordinates, and supervises a team that may comprise Working Supervisor, Team Leaders, Journey level workers, Trainees, Helpers, and subcontracted labor. Reports to General Supervisor I, General Supervisor II, Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent, or SOC Management. Interacts vertically and horizontally within own organization, other trades and the company. Has contact with customers and vendors. Supervises Working Supervisor, Team Leaders, Journey level workers, Trainees and Helpers. Responsibilities
Plans and schedules team activities. Evaluates team performance. Identifies problem areas and initiates corrective action. Adheres to schedule objectives, cost and quality. Monitors performance to safety policies. Coordinates production with other production supervisors, trades, quality assurance and management. Complies with organization and company administrative procedures. Reviews documentation and identifies deficiencies and potential problems. Demonstrates technical expertise and experience for the specific trade. Other responsibilities and duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications
Reads and writes effectively, speaks with clarity and listens actively. Solid math skills. Understands company policies and standards; knows products and services. Uses computers and networked systems when appropriate. Understands career opportunities and pathways; seeks professional growth. Commits to work; adapts and remains flexible; maintains ethical behavior; manages oneself efficiently; is professional. Familiar with customer specifications/contract specification requirements. Supports and commits to organization and NASSCO mission, vision, and values. Places safety above production in performance of team activities. Participates in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, reduce cycle time, and reduce costs. Physical Demands
Work occurs in both an outdoor shipyard environment and in an office setting. Vision: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception; ability to focus. Regularly sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing. Requires ability to commute to various shipyard areas, including shipboard activities. Must be capable of ascending/descending stairs or ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, and transiting through confined spaces. Physical dexterity for bending and reaching. Must remain alert and comply with safety requirements. Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, and smoke. May spend up to 80% of time outdoors in all climates. Noise levels vary from moderate in offices to moderate to noisy in shipyard environments. Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $77,100 - $118,100. This range is a reasonable estimate and considers factors such as skill sets, experience, training, and education.
