The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the design of low and medium voltage power systems and acts as the primary technical interface for the equipment they are assigned.
Key Responsibilities
Create bill of material and drawing packages for manufacture for equipment of moderate complexity. Independently performs design, troubleshooting and commissioning job functions as needed to support IEM equipment. Support production during the equipment manufacturing phase and testing by answering any technical inquiries. Work with mechanical designers to layout out and create front views/plan views of switchgear and switchboards. Select components and create detailed bills of materials for our products Write sequence of operation documents to define automatic system functionality. Work with test and field service teams to verify system operation to the design and written sequence of operations. Collaborate with other IEM teams to support equipment demonstrations in the factory, providing hands-on technical expertise and guidance to ensure successful execution of the factory witness test. Perform design job functions as needed to support IEM’s products and to achieve customer goals Independently support sales and the project management team in answering customer questions as it relates to the design. Complete short field assignments where troubleshooting, design consultation, customer meetings, or engineering support is required (generally less than 5 days at a time and not to exceed 15% of total time) Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a related field. Previous field service experience, knowledge and understanding is a big plus. Industrial automation experience is a big plus. Understanding of electrical engineering principles and applications as they apply to the power industry, including codes, standards, and design practices. Experienced in utilizing AutoCAD for electrical design. Understanding of mechanical layout and considerations. Task management and the ability to carry out a plan that moves a task to completion with a number of concurrent tasks. Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to interact directly with customers, sales, other technical resources and management. Technical writing skills. Organization skills. Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) Pride in Workmanship. Manages multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision; demonstrates consistent prioritization and planning. Attention to detail and thoroughness. Compensation
