$140,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr Position Purpose Oversees the technical/manufacturing aspects of the Injection Molding Department. Improves injection molding processes to increase production output, product quality, part manufacturability, and reduce costs including scrap and rework. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Provide sustaining process engineering support to Vaupell NW plastic injection molding operations utilizing sound injection molding principles and practices. Optimize existing molding processes. Conduct process experiments in support of improvement. Develop new injection molding programs for new products. Reduce set up time, scrap, run time, and other process waste. Identify and implement improvement for molded parts handling and secondary processing. Lead pilot and test runs as needed to validate design and mold changes. Work closely with Quality to ensure molded parts meet drawing requirements. Help project manager with molding transfer activities. Host customer on-site for pilot runs related to molding process qualification. Help train press operators. Recommend mold tooling improvements to customer. Help resolve part dimensional problems related to the injection molding process. Submit Engineering Change Orders for process improvements and customer design changes. Help support other manufacturing processes at Vaupell as needed. Coordinate repair of damaged tools with Vaupell tool maintenance team and/or customer. Learn the injection molding Best Practices from other Vaupell sites and implement at the Vaupell NW site. Other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering. Requires 5 years minimum of experience with injection molding. Requires knowledge of injection molding methods, techniques, equipment, and processes. Must be able to read, write, and speak English adequately to understand and develop work instructions. RJG Master Molder certification required. Requires knowledge of project management skills, good communications skills. Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools is preferred. Knowledge of Lean SMED best practices is preferred. CAD proficiency/design background is a plus to interpret customer CAD drawing information. Candidates must be a “US Person” (i.e. US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to ensure Vaupell's compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations). Environmental Condition While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
