About the role Our client is a distinguished multi-disciplinary design and construction firm with deep expertise in civil engineering, transportation infrastructure, planning, structural, MEP, and industrial process design. The company emphasizes empowering employee-owners and serving communities worldwide, with a strong presence in major U.S. cities and internationally.
The civil engineering team delivers full-spectrum transportation and infrastructure solutions—from small street rehabilitations to major interstate reconstructions—and offers pre-development support, transportation planning, and bridge and roadway design. Collaboration occurs across disciplines with urban planners, geotechnical consultants, and public agencies. The firm has contributed to diverse transportation projects, including roadway rehabilitation, interstate reconstruction, bicycle/pedestrian paths, bridges, and complex site developments for mixed-use and high-rise properties. Clients include state agencies, tollway authorities, aviation departments, and regional/municipal governments.
An active PE License is required for this position.
Responsibilities
Lead or coordinate complex transportation design projects from concept/design through construction documentation.
Collaborate with public agencies, stakeholders, utility companies, and interdisciplinary teams.
Contribute to multi-modal transportation projects, including bicycle/pedestrian facilities and transit integration.
Engage in transportation planning, streetscape design, and related infrastructure work.
Support project management activities and client communications as needed.
Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) License – Required
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
5+ years of professional experience in transportation or infrastructure engineering
Experience in roadway design, bridge design/rehabilitation, streetscape or trail planning, and transportation planning
Experience with multi-modal transportation projects is highly desirable
Proficiency with civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads, HEC-RAS)
Strong understanding of roadway alignment, drainage design, pavement structure, stormwater management, lighting, and maintenance-of-traffic planning
Project management and collaboration skills to lead or coordinate design efforts
Excellent written and verbal communication, including public presentations and community outreach
Ability to thrive in a supportive, inclusive, and team-oriented environment
Nice-to-have: experience with sustainable or resilient transportation solutions; familiarity with LEED
