Manufacturing Controls Development Engineer, Optimus — join Tesla to design and implement manufacturing lines for vehicle production at the Fremont factory in Fremont, CA. This role focuses on developing and applying controls for welding, assembly, stamping, and plastic molding lines to enable mass production of world-leading products and accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. What You'll Do
Design and launch manufacturing equipment for new products being mass-produced for the first time Develop next generation controls systems that merge traditional PLC logic with the benefits of a modern software stack Perform hands-on work with full-scale production equipment, from initial commissioning to mass production and ramp Contribute to Tesla’s hardware and software standards for future equipment development Lead machine suppliers to successful project delivery. Collaborate on high-level machine and line design decisions, lead supplier design reviews and factory acceptance testing, and coordinate across multiple internal teams to land a successful production line at any Tesla facility What You'll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, similar degree, or equivalent experience Programming proficiency in PLC or industrial controllers (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff) using ladder logic and structured text Experience in programming and integrating with industrial robots (e.g., Fanuc, KUKA) Electrical schematic design using ePLAN Experience in a manufacturing setting Hands-on experience troubleshooting and fixing electro-mechanical devices Familiar with common hand tools and diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters) Benefits and Compensation
