Overview

We are a leading provider of Distributed Antenna System (DAS) solutions for improved wireless coverage and capacity. Our team designs, installs, and maintains DAS networks that meet clients' connectivity needs. As a DAS Field Engineer at CED Systems, you will be responsible for the successful implementation and optimization of DAS networks, working with clients, project managers, and team members to ensure efficient deployment, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance.

Responsibilities

Provide on-site technical expertise during integration, commissioning, testing, and optimization of DAS and small cells.

Serve as the regional technical subject-matter expert for complex in-building solutions; liaison between Sales and customers; respond to technical inquiries and make recommendations.

Collaborate with customers, carriers, sub-contractors, solution engineers, design engineers, and field technicians to deploy DAS and Small Cells.

Lead and perform pre- and post-deployment surveys for iDAS/oDAS deployments using software and tools.

Lead integration, commissioning during deployments and field trials; lead RF data collection and analysis to define and improve coverage.

Identify and correct system issues during deployment and acceptance testing; propose technical improvements.

Document installations in line with internal and external standards, including hardware and software changes in the field.

Review customer deliverables, identify risks, and develop mitigation plans; review and approve closeout packages.

Turn-up and test DAS and Small Cell systems per customer and equipment manufacturer specifications; support integration and commissioning during deployments.

Perform post-deployment data collection and acceptance testing to verify coverage and capacity requirements; troubleshoot and repair DAS and Small Cell systems as needed.

Prepare and submit required project documentation.

Qualifications

Expert RF Engineer and Inbuilding DAS specialist with strong optimization and design experience.

Strong troubleshooting and analysis skills for walk tests and log files; ability to generate reports and provide performance recommendations.

Hands-on experience with DAS OEM commissioning vendors (e.g., CommScope, SOLiD, Corning, JMA).

3+ years in RF industry designing, optimizing, analyzing performance, and troubleshooting repeaters, iDAS/oDAS, and Small Cells for 5G and LTE.

Working knowledge of wireless technologies (CDMA, EVDO, GSM, W-CDMA, LTE, Wi-Fi).

Strong working knowledge of RF test equipment (e.g., Spectrum Analyzers, JDSU, Anritsu, Solutelia).

Experience with structured cabling (e.g., CATx) and First Responder DAS systems.

Ability to read and interpret technical/architectural drawings and RF designs (e.g., iBwave).

Mechanically inclined with ability to use hand and power tools; proficient in basic electronics, RF theory, antenna types, fiber systems, and low-voltage cabling.

Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office; strong focus on process improvement and stakeholder relationships.

Ability to defend technical recommendations, communicate clearly, listen effectively, and work well in field environments; capable of frequent travel (80%+).

Requirements

Education: High school diploma required; college degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum 4 years in telecommunications related to RF, DAS, iDAS/oDAS, and Small Cells.

Certifications: DAS OEM certification desired (e.g., SOLiD, CommScope, ADRF, Zinwave, Nextivity); DAS test equipment certs desired (e.g., Solutelia, JDSU, PIM, Anritsu); cable vendor certifications preferred.

Licensing: Valid driver’s license with suitable driving record; OSHA certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, walking, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.

Ability to stand/walk for long periods at customer sites; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

Vision and hearing adequate for close work and communication; color perception sufficient for field tasks.

Frequent travel including overnight stays as required; may include days/nights/weekends depending on project demands.

Work Environment Varies by customer site; may involve indoor/outdoor work, construction environments, moderate to high noise levels, and exposure to mechanical/electrical hazards. Adherence to customer/company safety practices and OSHA requirements is required.
